Established in 1998, the Rev. Thomas Curry Forensic Excellence Awards are a tribute to Father Curry and his tremendous commitment to the students of Marquette University High School. Father Curry served as a past moderator of the Webster Club and is described by our benefactor as “the epitome of refinement, warmth, intelligence, and priestly dedication.”
Each year, one student from each of the four Webster Club activities—Forensics, Lincoln-Douglas Debate (now also including Public Forum Debate), Policy Debate, and Mock Trial—is selected and awarded this high honor.
The selection criteria for the Rev. Thomas Curry Forensic Excellence Awards include participation, dedication to the activity and to one’s teammates, competitive success, and exemplary leadership. In essence, “overall excellence and performance” within the scope of each activity is the benchmark for receiving the Father Curry award.
Each of the following young men embodies the qualities recognized by this award and the $500 scholarship that accompanies it. The Rev. Thomas Curry Forensic Excellence Award is the highest honor bestowed upon members of the Webster Club.
