Webster Club

Debate, Forensics, & Mock Trial at Marquette University High School

Roster and Accomplishments From The 1959-1960 Season

“Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears.”

The speaker who orated these memorable lines was noted for his ability to sway the feelings of the assembled multitudes; yet, through the hallowed halls of Marquette High words of equal, or at times greater, emotional appeal have re-echoed. These pleas would not habe been used for the same purpose, the stirring of a mob to violence, but rather to stir a most honorable judge to the recognition of an ironclad argument.

Such arguments, requiring a good deal of research, direction, and speaking ability, give a large number of students the chance to think on their feet and gain self-confidence.

That is, essentially, the main goal and purpose of Marquette High’s Webster Club. An unbeatable combination of hard work and expert guidance have again produced a fine winning season.
